At Woodfield Primary School, we know how important the physical and mental health of our children is to ensuring they fulfil their potential. We know that school plays an important role in supporting parents to keep themselves and their children both mentally and physically healthy too.
So that is why we held our very first Healthy Families Week in school in the week beginning Monday 11th November. Each day of the week the children had a different theme to focus on during the school day. Over the course of the week the children found out about Healthy Food, Healthy Bodies, Healthy Minds and Healthy Lives, finishing the week by taking part in a whole school HIIT workout for Children in Need.
As well as having different daily challenges for the children, we also held a number of events so that parents could get involved too. We were very happy to be joined by lots of Healthy Families Partners over the week who helped us to spread key messages. These included the School Nursing Team, the School Dinner Service, Public Health, a local GP, Club Doncaster, Phoenix Combat Academy, DICE, the Smoothie Bike and Modeshift Transport.
Thanks to generous donations from Club Doncaster and Phoenix Martial Arts we were also able to award prizes to both children and families for taking part throughout the week.
