What is happening in the Early Years Unit?

Easter Holiday Website Challenge Day 5- Thursday 20th April

Today is the last day of our website challenge. All you have to do is listen to Mrs Watson reading one of her favourite stories, Little Rabbit Foo Foo. Unfortunately, the end of the story is missing. See if your child can predict what happens next! Maybe they could draw a picture of what they think the ending will be or even have a go at writing a sentence. Once you have done this all you need to do is remember to bring your completed challenge card to school next week to claim your child’s prize.

Easter Holiday Website Challenge Day 4- Tuesday 18th April

We hope that you all had a great Easter Weekend and didn’t eat too much chocolate. Today’s challenge is to use the pictures below and ask your child to tell you the story that goes with them. It is one they are very familiar with so should have no problem entertaining you with this traditional tale. When they have finished why not encourage them to draw a story map to go with it?

Easter Holiday Website Challenge Day 3- Saturday 15th April

Today we would like you to think about rhyming. Remind your child that when words rhyme the end of them stays the same. Look at the word below, ask your child to read it using fred talk and then make a list of as many words as they can which rhyme. When you have come up with as many words as possible why not set them the challenge with a different starting word?

If you have been taking part in the website challenge, why not send us an email to let us know? Maybe you could even send a photo of something you have been doing in the holidays to parents.forum@woodfield.doncaster.sch.uk

Easter Holiday Website Challenge Day 2-Wednesday 12th April

Today’s challenge is to choose some of the words below to make a sentence. Encourage your child to work out what the words say first- they can use Fred Talk to sound out the green words and have been practising reading the red words in class. Once they have  done this work together to thing of a sentence and encourage them to write it on your sheet. Why stop there though? There are  lots of combinations that make sentences- how many can you think of?

Easter Holiday Website Challenge Day 1- Monday 10th April

We are sorry for the delay in getting today’s post up but we have had some technical difficulties! Unfortunately this means that today’s story is not read by Miss Keyworth but is a great story for you to listen to anyway…..

World Book Day

We had lots of fun celebrating World Book Day. We dressed up as our favourite book character and our families came in to share a story with us.

We love books everyday, not just World Book Day. Look at our superstar story teller on the video below. Who wouldn’t want to go on a Bear Hunt when it is this exciting?

February 2017

We have been busy helping Mrs Watson and Miss Keyworth put lots of new resources out in our Outdoor Area. We had to make some labels for them as they were too busy to write. Look at our fantastic writing:

These labels should help us to keep our area tidy!

January 2017

We have been really busy in the unit since we came back for the new term. We have made box model robots….

We have made lightbox rainbows…..

We had a visit from the Gruffalo and made labels to remind us of the parts that make him so scary….

And Mrs Watson and Miss Keyworth have been taking part in the Early Excellence Hundred Review talking about why they think the Early Years is so important for children. Mrs Watson even made it onto Twitter!

Monday 12th December 2016

What a busy week we have had in the Foundation Stage! We have enjoyed our Christmas Party, made Christmas cards and calendars, had a visit from Santa and took part in Christmas Jumper day. To top it all off the Foundation 2 children and staff had a delicious Christmas dinner.

Monday 5th December 2016

This week we performed our Christmas Concert for our parents. It was called the Innkeeper’s Breakfast and we were amazing! Just in case you missed out here are some videos for you to enjoy……

We are so proud of our fantastic children and hope that you are too!

Monday 21st November 2016

We are busy practising for our Christmas Concert. This year we will be performing The Innkeeper’s Breakfast. Take a look at this group of F2 children trying to learn one of our new songs.

Monday 14th November

We have also been learning all about rhyming. The children in F2 have been learning animal poems and including our own actions. Prepare to be amazed by Ethan’s amazing performance. What a superstar!
